BACHELOR GIRLS v2.4 (2018-2021)

Multichannel Video, Server Rack, Hardware, Electronics

The second iteration of a continuing piece by Lauren Klotzman explores a nebulous pool of hazy queer feelings amid a obsession for shoegaze, historical hollywood lesbians, Andy Warhol, and Marguerite Duras. Taking femme music of the mid to late 1990s as its linchpin, a series of synchronized screens suspended on a server rack explore a field of nostalgia, distorted memory, and ennui. The use of layering and video synthesis lends vibrancy and unique color composition to the piece, while distorting in a manner which is meant to evoke the confusing and blurry patchwork of memory’s function.

Exhibited at The Contemporary Austin. Austin, TX during “Crit Group Reunion” in Spring 2021 .
